General The Stride Open Art Exhibition and Competition will take place in the John Rank Gallery of the Oxmarket Centre of Arts from dates to be announced 2008.
Qualifying artists It is open to artists living within the qualifying area which is defined by postcodes as shown on the postcode list to be added Prizes First Prize: £200, the Stride Cup and an Exhibition Space in 2008/9, Second Prize: £125 and an Exhibition Space in 2008/9, Ten further art related prizes for exhibits of merit.
Selectors & Judges All work submitted will be placed before a Selection Panel. Award winners will be decided by the Judge¬. Oxmarket Centre of Arts reserves the right to change selectors and judges at its discretion.The Selection Panel has absolute discretion as to whether work will be accepted for exhibition.
Entering Works: Terms and Conditions Original two dimensional works in any medium are acceptable with the exception of reproductions and photography. Each artist may submit a maximum of four works. There is a non-refundable submission fee of £tbc per entry (£tbc for Members or Associates of Oxmarket Centre of Arts) payable when the works are handed in.All works should have been produced within the last 12 months.The maximum size for work is 40 inches (102 cms) on its longest edge.All works must be submitted in accordance with these terms and conditions.
Submission Form and Accept/Decline Postcards Artists should fully complete the Submission Form and both sides of the Accept/Decline postcard, and affix a 1st class stamp to the latter. Artists will be advised whether or not their work has been accepted for exhibition by means of the Accept/Decline postcard.
Delivery Dates and Times. Times and dates to be advised.
Framing, Glazing, Fittings and Labels. All pictures submitted must be suitably framed. Glass or perspex clip-frames are inadmissible. Unframed work (i.e. canvas on a stretcher) will only be considered if the edges are painted. Each work should have two D-ring fittings, approximately three inches from the top of the picture. The adhesive labels provided, fully completed, should be affixed to the back of each picture.
Completing your Submission Form The details shown on the Submission Forms will be used in the exhibition catalogue. The title, medium and price you show on the Submission Form may not be changed after the day of submission. Prices of work should take into account the Oxmarket Centre of Arts commission of 25% and any other charges.
Inadmissible Works All entries should be the original work of the artist. The following work is inadmissible: works not for sale, copies of works, works that contain noxious or toxic substances.All work should conform to all applicable health and safety standards and regulations.
Sale of Works and Commission The minimum price for artwork should not be lower than £50. All sales are subject to a commission of 25% payable to the Oxmarket Centre of Arts. A red spot will be placed next to the work to indicate to the public that it has been sold. Works may be reserved for 24 hours. Any sale of work to the public will be at the price shown on the Submission Form. The Centre does not act as the artist’s agent or partner, but will carry out the formalities of the sale and pay the artist as soon as is practicable thereafter. Details of the purchaser will be provided for the artist.
Limitation of Liability All entries are submitted at the artist’s own risk. Insurance for loss, damage, destruction, deterioration or wear is the responsibility of the artist.
Removal of work not exhibited All work not included in the exhibition must be removed by or on behalf of the artist by tbc. Such work will be released on production of the Accept/Decline postcard.
Close of Exhibition Work that has been accepted and displayed may not be removed before the close of the exhibition at 4.30 p.m. on tbc. Unsold exhibited works will be released on presentation of the Accept/Decline postcard. Sold work will be released to the purchaser or his representative on production of the receipt issued at the time the sale was made.All work, whether sold or not, must be removed between 4 - 6 p.m. on Saturday tbc. If any works have not been removed by 6 p.m. on tbc the Centre shall be entitled to charge a storage fee of £5.00 per work, per week, or part thereof.
