... ‘To find the Oxmarket Centre of Arts, tucked away in Little London behind East Street, is in itself a great pleasure, but to recognise its place as a community centre for the exhibition of work from the best of professional artists to those taking their first steps on the great adventure which is creativity, tells the real story of this special place’ ... |

Antonio Sánchez Gonzáles, ‘TOM’, was born and raised in Granada, Spain. |
Antonio is 74 years old and to this date he has carried out more than 20 exhibitions of his paintings. Hundreds of paintings are a foundation for a solid career that searches constantly for that impossible harmony of mixtures between colour and feeling, those shapes that look to integrate the spectator into the art with the art itself in an intimate dialogue loaded with all kind of effects. His work is detailed & he enjoys the use of oils on canvas & board. |
A lover of contemplating nature, TOM, is a self-taught painter who initiated his career in the second half of his life. He recognizes himself in this desire after admiring the art of Camile Pisarro who, like him, derived in moments towards the “pointillist concept”. |
“… light, shade, shape and colour confabulate, fascinating me and motivating me from within, a feeling that stops me from being a simple spectator, inviting me to pick up trowel and brushes….” |
This exhibition includes Tom’s new found interest with the Sussex Countryside following his first and recent visit to England, his first venture outside of his beloved Spain. In contrast are some paintings from his favourite Spanish vistas. |
